WHAT MAKES A LUXURY HOME?

WHAT MAKES A LUXURY HOME?

Over these summer months in our Indigo Skye Group Newsletter themes, we have focused on Luxury as it relates to real estate. We have explored the EXPERIENCE of luxury - travel, superior service, special moments, how luxury makes you feel; and the MINIMALISM of true luxury - having space, finer things, art, and items that fill your home with meaning. As we explore luxury this month, we ask the question “what makes a luxury home?

We tend to associate luxury with large, grand homes, private schools, expensive art, exotic trips abroad, sports cars and fine jewelry. But luxury means much more than just a big price tag - it evokes the idea of quality, comfort, and ease. And don’t mistake the crazy escalating prices of homes to represent luxury either. Just because a property has an expensive price tag  doesn’t mean it is a luxury home.

LUXURY IS THE STATE OF EXQUISITE COMFORT AND SUMPTUOUS LIVING

Luxury, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder! What constitutes luxury varies from person to person. That’s why a real estate professional who understands your needs and wants—and who has a comprehensive understanding of the local market—is essential when it comes to finding your dream luxury property.

LOOKING FOR LUXURY BUT AFRAID YOU CAN’T AFFORD IT?

One of the marks of luxury is having the space to find comfort and to reflect your lifestyle. Finding spacious luxury at an affordable price will be, and always has been, challenging. But hallmarks of luxury are attainable in new builds or in existing homes, you have to know what to look for and know what is most important to you. A perfected floor plan, comfortable size, and quality finishings help constitute the luxury characteristics of a home - no matter what the price.

LOCATION IS EVERYTHING

You can have the biggest, most unique, expensive, custom home in the world but if it is in an undesirable location it may lose its luxurious prestige. Certain zip codes are known for their high-end homes, and once that has been established a home earns the luxury stamp of approval simply by its mailing address. For areas that are lesser known by their zip code or city name, there are still ways that location in general is tied to prestige. For example, a home that is waterfront, overlooks the city center, or sits on top of a beautiful mountain is going to have that luxury feel even if the mailing address seems like nothing special. Be on the lookout for the areas that surround a luxury home as well.

TRUE LUXURY IS MORE THAN ALL IT’S PARTS

What makes a luxury home is not just price, size, location, and design. A luxury property is a place you call home. It is where you feel comfortable, where you are free to express your unique individuality and have the space to live, work and play. It is where your collective needs come together in one place to bring your dreams to life! That’s why a real estate professional who understands your needs and wants, is drilled into the local market, AND knows the value in the details of a home, is essential when it comes to finding your dream luxury property.
